Certification/Licensing
The State of Rhode Island does not have any requirements, licensing or certification.
Rhode Island Reflexologists are protected under the unlicensed HEALTH CARE BILL OF RIGHTS.
The State of Rhode Island is aware of Reflexology,
however, at this time they do not find a need for licensing.
The Board of Higher Education, at this time, is not concerned with Holistic Studies.
Again, the Unlicensed Health Care Bill protects Reflexologists and other Holistic Modalities.
Upon successful completion of the training and workshop requirements, graduates are certified by "The Rhode Island Reflexology Academy" and will be fully competent to practice the Healing Art of Reflexology.
Final examination is comprised of a written exam on the morning of the last day of the nine-week program, as well as a practical exam in which the instructor observes a complete reflexology session by the student, which will take place that same afternoon. A Thesis and 80 additional comprehensive case studies (that is, eight case studies of ten sessions each for a total of 80 sessions) are to be turned in after the program is complete. These extra hours of case studies are necessary in the evaluation of the student as a practitioner, to insure that the concept of reflexology as a healing modality is understood. Providing all requirements are met the student is certified to practice the Healing Art of Reflexology. This will be discussed in detail at the orientation. Students are qualified and therefore encouraged to apply for National Certification after successfully completing the entire training.
